i`m back for more wise instruction... Plz help again :)-

    Well problems never cease

i followed instructions to an art , from setarip

    & doom9.net(Very nice how to`s there)

Regarding the Virtual dub not being able to

load & split a file due to a VBR audio stream.

i followed instructions precisely on decompressing entire audio

stream to an uncompressed wave file , then loading the original

video source & the new wave file in TMPGenc .

The end result (& i did all this 2x`s incase i missed something

& took most of my day) trying to load & split in Virtual Dub

(Latest version) was an error telling me the source video stream

uses a compression algorithm not compatible with avi files . Direct

stream copy cannot be used with this video stream

So it seems audio & video are a problem with this flick , & this

seems a very high quality rip to my eyes and ears(From DVD ?)

i attatch 2 screen shots of the files virtual dub properties

The original .divx properties & the file after audio redone

    & then joined in TMPGenc

This has eaten away hours/days of my time & i hope some

    wise sage can direct me

    TIA -

If you managed to create an MPEG file using TMPGEnc, what is your question/problem at this point?

          ATT: Setarip

          Hi

The problem is i have a huge .mpg file that i still

can`t split in Virtul dub , i fixed audio VBR error

to only succumb to "an error telling me the source video stream

uses a compression algorithm not compatible with avi files ."

i need to split this large file so i can make a VCD

How can i do this ?

          TIA -

You can't use VirtualDub to split an MPEG file - if it does accept the file, it will only convert to .AVI format again!

If you desire to make two VCDs from this (presumably) MPEG1 file, do the following:

If your video runs longer than 60 minutes, you'll have to subsequently split your VCD-MPG file in two. This can be easily and precisely accomplished using TMPGEnc. Under the "Files" dropdown menu, click on "MPEG Tools" and select the "Merge & Cut" tab.

Make sure to change the mode to "MPEG1-Video CD"!!

Load your file and enter a new (.MPG) name in the "Output file" box. Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL file's name in the window, which will bring you to the cutting area. Select your desired start and end points for the first half, click on "Okay" which will bring you back to the first window and generate (in a sequence of three automated steps) the first new file. To create the second new file, repeat the steps starting with "Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL..." (be extra patient with the second half, as the program has to do more seeking to establish the beginning of the new file).

Use a burning program, such as NERO to burn your CD-R or R/W CD as a VCD (DON'T ask NERO to format the file as a VCD, since you've already accomplished this!)

              Att: Setarip........Again

              Tnx for advice

i`ll try those tips when i get some freetime

(When do you ever get free time ? i see you

posting advice all over the place....Must be like

              a full time job Hehehehe)

can i ask ya one other thing in regards to

              TMPGenc...(2.51.33.127) , i converted a movie(divx) of very

high quality in TMPGenc.....it was 3 discs , so i used the

wizard & loaded them in a queue/batch... i used the usual

successful settings , but well into 2nd disc i seen the picture

freeze , but TMPGenc was still running....What i have now

are files without audio(originals are backed up..But V Dub

say`s they have improper VBR etc.

The 2nd disc has no audio & several minutes in the video is a

              totally black screen...

& the one flick is frozen right where i seen it do so while

              encoding.

TMPG says the info is Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240

              29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

& the 3rd part seems to be encoding fine thus far

i `m not so much crazy about this flick in particular , because

i`ll probably own the original soon , i just want to get real

good @ this whole process . This problem is bound to arise

              again , about a flick i want to keep , & i won`t want to dump it

like i have other good flix i wanted , because i never knew of

              you or your forum

Maybe this version of TMPG is buggy ? & the new version may

              be a fix ?

              Thanks for all -

                Hey Setarip....Tnx..

                Hi

                Well i finally got those(From a few days/messages ago)

flicks working thanx to you -

i split audio as wave etc..... rejoined in TMPG & split

`em as per your last instructions in TMPG(Man that

proggies touchy & it takes forever to split , gave me

an error but i hit run & it worked in spite of...)

i still have that other 3 disc flick(divx) problem as mentioned

But i`m going to enjoy this victory 1st

                Cheers -
